House Mom Lorna Ruff

Lorna was born in 1935 in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. She is 73 years old, proud of it, and going on her 19th year as Sigma Chi House Mom. Lorna married out of high school and has five children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson all of whom she loves dearly. She is pleased to have served as Sigma Chi's House Mom since 1990, a time period in which Husker Football won 3 National Championships.

Sigma Chi serves as the only house Lorna has managed and she "absolutely loves being here". Lorna's job is to supervise the maintenance of the house as well as serve as a medium between the house and House Corp. She manages the cook and the kitchen while seeing to it that the house stays clean. After living in a frat house for many years, she has seen it all…

Lorna spends her free time doing crossword puzzles or watching jeopardy and other game shows. "My favorite part is just being around all the young kids" she proclaims. Although times have changed significantly over 19 years, she is as happy as ever. She never hesitates to offer assistance or care although there are times when she must "crack the whip" she says jokingly. Keeping a bunch of frat boys in line is no easy task yet Lorna carries it out almost effortlessly.
