Derby Days pits various sororities against one another in several grueling contests. Past competitions include a hellish obstacle course, a freestyle rap battle, and most recently, an all male wet t-shirt contest .
A tradition almost as old as the Alpha Epsilon chapter itself, Derby Days is our fall philanthropy. The week long event raises money for the Children's Miracle Network. The Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of struggling children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America.
Past Events have included:
Derby Chase
Every Sigma Chi wears a derby hat throughout the week. The hat will clearly be marked with Sigma Chi letters, "Derby Hat," or something similar to this. Sorority members must catch the member and introduce themselves and they are then given the derby hat. The Sigma Chi member will have a card and take down your name, and the sorority you belong to. The house with the most hats collected at the end of the week wins the competition. There is no cost for this event. Double points will be given for this event.
Sigma Chi Banner Contest
Each house will submit a banner or poster they made in support of Derby Days 2008. The top banners will be displayed on the Sigma Chi house for the entire week. The banner featuring the best slogan or theme will be incorporated into next summer's Recruitment t-shirt or next year's Derby Days t-shirt. Banners should be submitted on Monday, September 22. One banner will be allowed per house. Double points will be given for this event.
